Volunteer Opportunities

The Clothing, Foster Hope and Layette Programs

The Clothing Center is the most visible volunteer opportunity.  There, volunteers start the year with inventory and restocking, usually on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings from January through June.  July focuses on preparing for the influx of clients who come to the Center for clothing from August through December.  While winter/spring is the ‘down’ time for CCS, the conversations and comradery create bonding experiences.

When the Center is open for clients, volunteers help find correct sizes, fill orders, register and usher clients.  On Wednesday mornings, and select Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons, the Center is busy, filled with children’s voices and expressions of delight over that perfect pink coats or those Superman shoes.  The hours are designed to accommodate working clients, but they also gives working volunteers a chance to fit volunteering into their schedules.

Layette volunteers work year round preparing the colorful tote bags filled with baby clothes and necessities.  When the Center is open for clients, they work with moms to find the right sizes for growing babies.

Community Outreach

Volunteers are needed for Motor Corps which picks up donated used clothing from schools and churches. Boot Drives and the Diaper Drop in May are one-time opportunities to help if you can’t commit to a regular volunteer schedule. Also, volunteers speak to school, church and civic groups about CCS – a natural for former teachers!

Educational Programs

The Clothing Program at the Center isn’t the only way volunteers help. The education program at St. Adalbert’s School, called SUCCESS, offers an opportunity to interact with children, read, tutor or accompany them on field trips.   Serving on the Scholarship Committee gives volunteers the chance to improve lives through education.

Fundraising and Event Planning

The success of our programs means we need to raise funds to support them!  The Let Love Shine Dinner Auction is the largest fund raiser and as such, it requires many hands, from donation solicitation and auction item procurement to invitations, decorations and set up.  This is a great chance to meet new people and share some laughs, especially if your schedule requires evening or at home tasks.

Leadership

Over the years, some remarkable women have brought CCS to the strong organization it is today.  Women from a variety of careers – accounting, social work, teaching, marketing, management  and homemakers who have mastered time management, organization and multitasking skills. have brought their skills to make CCS succeed.  Volunteering is an excellent way to use your skills, be productive and make the world a better place.  Taking on a leadership role affords the chance to shape and advance the organization while making great friends along the way.
