reading for comprehension to learn facts, ideas and concepts.
Please help us expand breadth of knowledge
and foster reading in the content areas for the children we serve.

A Nonfiction Book Drive

 benefitting school age children served through our Clothing Center.
Books and Activity Packets will be distributed November 1-15.

Wednesday, October 18
on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9 AM-1PM,
Thursday evenings or Sunday afternoons when we’re open,

Books reveal the world around us with all its beauty and marvels.

Books help us to find our place in the world and the impact we might make

 
Here are some suggested topic areas per grade level:

Ages 4-5,  PreK & K:  animals, nature, our 5 senses, dinosaurs, basic weather, numbers, patterns and predictability

Gr 1-2:  animals and habitats, weather, life cycles (butterfly, trees and plants, water cycle,etc), numbers and our earth

Gr 3-4:  Earth and weather, how things work, space and rockets, ecosystems and the human body

Gr 5-6:  rocks and volcanos, biographies of famous scientists, climate and earth, natural disasters, math, prehistoric times, planets and space exploration and technology

 Gr. 7-8:  ecosystems, bios of famous scientists & inventors, inventions, planets and space exploration, natural disasters, technology, robots & robotics
